Tim is a former captain at KLM and has extensive experience working for the organization, previously having taken up many different roles. As Operations Manager and ad interim VP of the KLM B747 unit, he started raising awareness for sustainability within the aviation sector. One program he contributed to was aimed at decreasing CO2 emissions by using fuel more efficiently. He has also gathered governments, traffic controllers and aviators to jointly analyze the chain and see where it could become more sustainable.
In 2010 the first flight running on Biofuel accompanied by passengers was executed, after which airspace optimization turned out to also be an essential concern within aviation. Therefore, Tim has frequently been asked by the EU-China Partnership Project (European Comission and EASA) to give workshops and presentations in China and Europe about aviation related subjecs, in which sustainability and safety are forefront.
