EIT Climate-KIC - The Journey Summer School

The Journey is the world’s largest summer school on systems innovation and climate change which brings together 400 MSc students and young professionals from all over the world. Organised by Climate-KIC, we co-hosted this journey together with Luvent Consulting GmbH (Berlin) and the Utrecht University.

Context

EIT Climate-KIC’s The Journey is Europe’s largest summer school for students and young professionals. The Journey is a 4-week full time program focused on climate action, innovation, systems transformation and community building. The Climate-KIC Journey supports students and young professionals from all over Europe on their path towards tackling some of our toughest climate challenges. Around 400 students and young professionals take part in the Journey every year, divided into smaller Journey groups of 40 participants.

Our Work

TheRockGroup co-hosted part of The Journey together with Utrecht University and Luvent Consulting (Berlin). Together with our co-hosts, two coaches and the central Journey team we designed and developed a 4-week online programme filled with interactive sessions focussed on both knowledge transfer and professional and personal development. During the 4-week programme TheRockGroup delivered and supported in workshops on topics such as systems thinking, climate change & sustainable business. TheRockGroup also invited several experts from the field in order to inspire and engage with the participants. At the end of the four weeks the participants left the program with a thematic system change action plan (with their team) and an individual action plan focussed on system change in their locality. Several of these plans have since been taken further by the participants.
