Booking.com - Environmental Impact
Consulting with Booking.com lead to an internal alignment and embedding of their CR strategy, which allows companies to create and implement socially responsible business practices at all levels of their organization.
Context
Established in 1996 in Amsterdam, Booking.com has grown from a small Dutch start up to one of the largest travel e-commerce companies in the world. It is a travel fare aggregator website and travel metasearch engine. Such a large company has a large impact economically and environmentally. TheRockGroup was approached to improve Booking.com’s sustainability strategy and impact.

Our Work
During this project, TheRockGroup calculated the footprint of booking.com to give the company a clearer picture of its sustainability and environmental impact. We engaged Booking.com by researching and substantiating the importance of a managed internal footprint due to continuous increase in tourism and travel, but also demonstrated the business value of transparent environmental performance in the communication with e.g. millennials. Furthermore, it was a strategic opportunity to set an example for other large international businesses in terms of good environmental practices incorporated into their business strategy. During this project, TheRockGroup acted as a sounding board and advisor to help determine the scope of the strategy. They also analyzed other companies’ best practices and determined the pitfalls and successes to create advice tailored to the needs of Booking.com
