On May 23rd and 24th Elfrieke van Galen of TheRockGroup spoke at the 2018 Sustainability Leaders Congress in Berlin, Germany. At this international conference hot business, societal and scientific topics were discussed such as water conservation and waste management, Energy, greenhouse gases and environmental strategies, transparency, integrated reporting and SDGs, and circular economy and sustainable product development.
Elfrieke van Galen and Carola Wijdoogen of NS, and former CSR director of the year in the Netherlands, spoke together as key not speakers in their session on the roles CSO’s play with in organizations, about best practices in CSR and their combined practical experience in the field at all levels. Their session included an interactive survey designed to test the understanding and practice of the seven roles of CSR managers on different levels as described in Carola Wijdoogen’s book “MVO doe je zo”. This book is a step forward in the world of CSR professionals and managers. It gives clear insight into the roles and responsibilities of effective CSR managers at different levels within an organization from the view-point of an experienced and successful CSR manager. The audience’s participation gave participants at the conference further insight into their potential as CSR managers and also contributed to the current international research being done for the international version of “MVO doe je zo” which is to be released Spring 2019.
